In 1901, hotelkeeper Charles O’Reilly built the 58-room inn at the corner of Beckwith and William streets, welcoming the first guests in 1902.
It is a substantial three-storey red-brick building modeled on the urban houses or palazzos of Renaissance Italy. Features include a cornice of embossed metal, arched windows on the ground floor, and bay windows with wrought-iron railings along the second-floor facade.
2017, Canada is celebrating 150 years as a nation and Park View Homes has proudly acquired the property and is planning a spectacular transformative project on this majestic structure. Park View Homes will be posting to the page and keeping viewers up to date on the progress of the revitalization of the Rideau Hotel.
